Fused glass – or kiln-formed glass – is an ancient method of creating both functional and decorative glass objects. Its use even predates glass-blowing, and in recent years has witnessed a renaissance due to the unique results of applying this method.
Susan has lived in Paris for the past twelve years and is inspired by the beauty of the town and its surroundings as well as the many artistic people with whom she has come into contact. Over the years, she has explored many artistic styles, always enjoying colour and texture.
It is fused glass that has captured her imagination above all. The fusion of colour, reflectivity of glass and the ability to manipulate texture are particularly appealing to an artist. Fusing glass has offered Susan many options for creating her unique pieces: working with shards, frit, noodles, confetti and glass paints, and then firing in a kiln to create art glass with an incredible range in design and appearance.
Susan’s unique fused glass creations can be seen at A Grand Riverhouse Christmas location this year.
